Co-founder of Journey to Fitness (J2FIT), Michael Dewar, is able to offer a magnitude of insight and guidance given his educational upbringings and experience. As a youth, Mike played football, baseball, ran track, and competed in weightlifting and power-lifting events. In college, the importance of fitness and health was solidified in his life, where he went on to study exercise science and nutrition. During his tenure at BGSU, Mike coached football at Perrysburg High School, was a fitness coach at the YMCA, and ultimately completed his Midwest tour as a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Assistant at BGSU.
Mike further attended Columbia University in New York, NY, where he studied human physiology, sports nutrition, and exercise performance and health. During his tenure at Columbia University, Mike worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital under the Cardio-Pulmonary unit as an exercise physiologist assistant, as well as conducted his thesis research which determined the longitudinal outcomes of exercise parameter in post-lung transplant recipients.Today, Mike lives and trains in New York City as a trainer/coach/athlete. Founding J2FIT has further solidified his dedication and passion to instil, educate, motivate, and reform the destructive paths that many lead. Mike is dedicated to pursuing his personal goals of changing the outlooks on which fitness and health is perceived.
