What’s the scariest thing you have ever done? When I take my motivational talks, I often talk about the need to take on challenges, to get out of your comfort zone for a more fulfilling life.
In one of these talks, one girl asked me, “So are you doing something out of your comfort zone?”
It got me thinking. Sure, I had quit banking and taken the plunge into writing several years ago. However, writing had become my comfort zone now. What was the scary challenge I was taking on in my life?
I decided it had to be fitness. All my life I have struggled with my weight, maybe because I love food too much or because almost all my interests are sedentary. It is scary for me to commit to a diet and fitness plan. And it is even scarier to share my attempts with everyone out there, literally, millions on social media.
I felt the whole idea was crazy. To share your vital statistics, fitness data and monitor progress as you go along. I shared it with Reebok. I thought they would think it is crazy too, but they came on board.
And so we came up with Reboot 100, a 100-day transformation program for me.
It’s as simple as this. For 100 days, starting January 1, 2015, I follow a diet and fitness plan designed by Reebok. Every 10 days, I share my vital statistics and whatever I did in the last few days. If I made progress, you see it. If I didn’t, you see that too. If I keep the discipline, my statistics will improve. If I don’t, well, the world will know.
Scary enough for you?
